Program Schedule
Led by the City of Joliet, the Alternative Water Source Program (The Program) consists of the planning, design, and construction of a new Lake Michigan water source that will deliver treated water to the member communities in 2030.
Below is the construction schedule overlaid on the Program map. The initial construction began with the tunnel extension in May 2025 outside of the member communities near the Chicago connection site. Construction in the member communities is anticipated to begin mid-2027. Visit the Construction tab to learn more about the project status for each segment.
